CULTIVATING HEALTH CONSCIOUS HABITS
Health, wellness, and vitality doesn’t happen overnight, it happens naturally over time given the right conditions. It is the cumulative effect of living a health conscious lifestyle. A health conscious lifestyle is simply a string of habits and choices that nourish and support the body, mind, and spirit. Establish one at a time, gently rewiring old habits and adding new ones. By year’s end you will have reached new level of health and redesigned your lifestyle to one that naturally cultivates health, wellness, and vitality.
BEGIN WITH A VISION & A WHY
Take some time to imagine yourself living the life you truly want to live. Based on the following prompts, create a written vision that will motivate and guide you over the year.
How do you feel in your physical body? Your mind? Your spirit?
How do you feel when you wake up on the morning and at the end of the day?
What activities do you enjoy?
What makes makes you feel most alive?
Why is this important to you?
BUILD A BRIDGE BETWEEN WHERE YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU WANT TO BE
Health conscious habits build your bridge. They move you in the direction of health and vitality. Habits are neural pathways or life patterns. They develop (and disappear) with consistency over time and become second nature.
CREATE HEALTH CONSCIOUS HABITS.
Determine your new habit, or daily action. What daily action will you take? Start small to build your confidence and habit muscle. Small actions done consistently overtime lead to profound change. Pick one that feels attainable and has positive ripple effect.
Commit to a length of time for consistent daily action, at least 20 days, until your new habit becomes second nature.
Review your vision and why daily. When making choices ask yourself, “Does this move me in the direction of my vision or away from it?”
Track your progress and celebrate every success.
Get outside support and accountability if you need it.
Be kind to yourself. Manage your inner critic and gently course correct when necessary.
Once that habit becomes established add another. Build one after another and by the year’s end you will have cultivated a health conscious lifestyle and transformed your health and wellness.
